If you have been following Typhur, you might already know that we launched the Typhur Dome 2 in January 2025. The latest model is better than the original Typhur Dome since it brings on board an added bottom heat source. The enhancement ensures your food cooks more evenly with less shaking and flipping needed. Also, we’ve increased the number of preset cooking modes from 10 to 15 in order to offer you even more flexibility in cooking. To view what’s new with a more extended view, you can refer to this post.
The dual heating element design, the top and bottom heating elements, affects airflow, temperature control, and accuracy of cooking. For this reason, we have made some adjustments to the preset cooking modes so you can get more accurate cooking results. In the next sections, we will walk you through the logic behind each of the cooking modes, its temperature settings, fan speed, and the most suitable foods to cook with each one. Well, let’s go ahead and delve into the specifics of each mode!
Overview of Typhur Dome 2 Cooking Modes and Presets
The Typhur Dome 2 Air Fryer offers 15 built-in cooking modes, making it a versatile kitchen tool for various types of cooking. Among these, there are 9 different cooking modes and 6 preset options. The modes include Air Fry, Reheat, Bake, Roast, Broil, Toast, Grill, Griddle, and Dehydrate, while the presets are tailored for specific food types, such as Pizza, Steak, Bacon, Wings, Fries, and Frozen.

Each of these modes has specific temperature and time presettings, allowing for optimal cooking results. However, the real distinction comes from the fan speed and the heating power of the top and bottom heating elements.
For example, in Grill mode, the bottom heating element is primarily used to ensure a better sear and crispiness on the food’s bottom surface. If you’re using this mode, it is recommended to remove the grill plate to ensure that direct heat can reach the bottom surface of the food without obstruction. On the other hand, Broil mode applies intense heat from the top, making it suitable for browning or melting the surface of food.
When it comes to Steak mode, it closely resembles Grill mode, with the focus on bottom heating to achieve that perfect seared crust. During cooking, it’s advisable to flip the steak halfway through to ensure even searing and cooking. The program is designed to optimize the fan speed as well, reducing excess smoke and ensuring a clean cooking experience, making it not just a mix of Grill and Broil, but a specialized preset tailored for steak.
To continue, I’ll guide you with the details on how each setting is different from each. Some settings have different fan speeds, and some settings use stronger top or bottom heating. Let’s dive into it.
Typhur Dome Air Fryer Multi-Speed Fan Control
The fan in an air fryer ensures that your food is crispy and evenly cooked. Its primary job is to circulate hot air around the food and create a convection effect, which mimics deep frying, but with a lot less oil.
The fan spreads out the heat consistently, so there is even heat exposure to each area of your food, ensuring that everything turns out evenly cooked. It even allows for a crispy texture we all love by evaporation of instant moisture on food surfaces. All this rapid circulation of air aids in cooking faster and more uniformly.
Typhur Dome air fryers come equipped with adjustable fan speeds for different cooking modes, which can be selected depending on the preparation of food.
Fan Speed | Typhur Dome 2 | Recipes |
---|---|---|
High | Air Fry, Broil, Grill, Roast, Reheat, Fries, Frozen, Toast | Garlic cheddar chicken, grilled cabbage |
Medium | Bacon, Wings, Bake | Air fryer bacon |
Low | Pizza, Steak, Griddle, Dehydrate | Air fryer pancakes, air fryer homemade pizza, air fryer dehydrated peaches |
Top and Bottom Heating Element–focused Modes
The modes of the Typhur Dome 2 Air Fryer can also be categorized based on the primary heat source—either the top heat element or the bottom heat element.
Top Heating Element–Focused Modes:
- Modes: Air Fry, Reheat, Bake, Roast, Broil, Dehydrate
- Presets: Bacon, Wings, Fries, Frozen
These modes employ the most powerful heating element to generate the cooking temperature, and the fan is there to distribute the heat so that it spreads evenly to achieve a crispy and nicely browned result. They suit food that requires continuous heat from above, for instance, frozen food, bacon, and French fries.
Bottom Heating Element–Focused Modes:
- Modes: Toast, Grill, Griddle
- Presets: Pizza, Steak
In these modes, the bottom element is the main source of heat, imparting a direct sear and crispy bottom. These modes are best for foods that benefit from a crispy bottom or need a good sear, such as steak and pizza.
The Bottom Line
The Typhur Dome 2 Air Fryer is an upgraded version of the original Dome air fryer, with more versatility through its 15 modes and preset settings. With an understanding of what each mode is for and how the dual heating elements and variable fan speeds influence cooking, you can select the right mode for your evening meal. This will give you perfect results without having to deal with common issues like smoking.
So the next time you are cooking in the kitchen, be sure to use the right mode for your dish. With the Typhur Dome 2 Air Fryer, you will be cooking to perfection every time. Happy cooking!
Very poor explanation. If i want to use pizza preset when do i need to place pizza in air fryer?
Hi Sue, this is a guide explaining the principles behind the different cooking modes of the Typhur Dome 2. If you need to cook pizza, please follow our pizza recipes:
For homemade pizza: https://explore.typhur.com/homemade-pizza
For frozen pizza: https://explore.typhur.com/air-fryer-frozen-pizza
Where is the pizza mode
Hi jservilla, for the Dome 2 air fryer, you can use the preset pizza mode directly from the Dome 2 device screen. The original Dome didn’t have the preset pizza mode, but it did have the Frozen mode, which allows you to cook frozen pizza.
Was there a way to set the Typhur 2 Dome to “Bake” mode on the console by pressing two buttons simultaneously?
Sorry, the “Bake” mode can only be set through the Typhur app.
How do you set preheat
Is there a way to turn the fan off? It blows tortillas and toast all around sometimes into the heating element on top, which is dangerous and leaves black burn marks. Same with parchment paper under light items.
Thank you for your feedback! The principle behind air fryers is to use the fan to circulate hot air and deliver heat to the food, so unfortunately, it’s not possible to turn off the fan during cooking.
As for lighter items like tortillas or toast, I recommend using the Low Fan Speed cooking preset, such as Griddle, to minimize the impact of the airflow. This setting will help prevent the food from being blown around and ensure a safer cooking experience.
We hope this helps, and feel free to reach out if you have any other questions!
I’m with Jaclyn. We had a Cuisinart toaster oven/air fryer and it worked great for my toast, roasted veggies and nachos–not great for husband’s bacon, because that made a big, uncleanable mess. So we got the Dome2. Medium fan speed blows everything around like a tornado and up into the top element–bread, chips, shredded cheese, sliced cheese, cut veggies, parchment paper, everything. Because of this, nachos–a major food group in this house–don’t work, even using sliced cheese instead of shredded on top. Since I can’t find a top-heating element option with low fan except dehydrate–I do almost everything on dehydrate and increase the temp as high as it can go–300, which really isn’t very high, and dries out bread and veggies. So what I need is a top-element focused/high heat/low fan (or no fan) option. Is there one that I’m missing? If not, can you upgrade the app to make one? Husband is over the moon about bacon. Me, not so much. Your website shows people preparing nachos. I have no idea how on earth they’re accomplishing it. Any advice for how to use?
Hi Teri, for the kind of top-element focused, high-heat, low-fan cooking you’re looking for, we don’t currently have a preset that matches those exact settings — but it’s a great suggestion, and our team will evaluate whether this can be added in a future app update.
In the meantime, we’d recommend trying the Griddle mode, which allows you to reach up to 400°F with a low fan speed. To reduce bottom heat and focus more on the top, you can place your food on the grill plate — it acts as a barrier and helps concentrate heat from the top element.
Thanks again for your honest and constructive feedback!
